Short answer: no. For what you can open here, the broker comparison ranks every platform on this site by cost. Robinhood does not take clients resident in Switzerland, and unlike some European providers there is not even a grey area here. That is exactly why I point people to eToro as the closest thing to the Robinhood experience you can actually open from Switzerland.
Robinhood is the app that made commission-free share dealing mainstream in the United States. If you spend any time on YouTube or Reddit you have seen it hundreds of times, which is why so many people in Switzerland land on the signup page and then find they cannot get past it.
Why Robinhood is not available in Switzerland
Robinhood is a US broker with US regulation and a product built for the US market. Opening an account normally requires a US connection: a US taxpayer identification or social security number, a US address, and a US bank account for deposits and withdrawals. If you live in Switzerland you have none of those.
Robinhood began expanding into the United Kingdom and parts of the EU in 2024. Switzerland is not part of that so far, and there is no announcement suggesting otherwise. I will update this page if that changes.

Fractional shares of real US companies in an app that feels similar: open eToro, practise in the virtual portfolio, and buy real holdings when you are ready.
The workarounds people try, and why I would not
- Get a US address and an ITINThis comes up in forums constantly. It means giving information at account opening that is not true. If it is spotted, the account is frozen while your money sits inside it, and you have a problem with a US broker who has no Swiss contact point and no incentive to hurry.
- Use a VPNA VPN changes your IP address, not your residence. Identity verification, or the first withdrawal to a Swiss bank account, ends the experiment.
- Go through someone in the USAn account in someone else’s name is a legal and tax minefield, and if there is a death or a falling out you have no standing at all. Leave it.
The honest point is the same as with the other neobrokers: you do not want Robinhood. You want an app where buying takes three taps, where you can own a slice of Apple or Nvidia with a small amount of money, and that does not charge a double-digit fee per order. That is reasonable, and you can have it legally from Switzerland.
What you can use in Switzerland instead
| Provider | What it gets right | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| eToro | Fractional US shares, app-first, demo account to practise in | USD account currency, so conversion costs going in and out |
| Yuh | Swiss app in CHF, very simple, fractions available | Smaller investment universe than a full broker |
| Swissquote | Full Swiss broker with tax statement and deposit protection | Noticeably more per trade |
| DEGIRO | Low fees and a big US selection, usable from Switzerland | No Swiss tax statement, you declare it yourself |
Robinhood Switzerland FAQ
Can I use Robinhood in Switzerland?
No. Robinhood is a US broker and account opening generally requires a US connection such as a US tax number and a US address. Living in Switzerland you do not meet those conditions.
Is Robinhood coming to Switzerland?
Robinhood began expanding into the UK and parts of the EU in 2024. There is no announcement for Switzerland so far.
What is the best Robinhood alternative in Switzerland?
For fractional US shares in an app, eToro is closest. If CHF as your account currency matters more than selection, Yuh is the obvious Swiss candidate.
Can I use Robinhood with a VPN?
A VPN only changes your IP address, not your residence or tax liability. It surfaces at identity verification or at the latest when you withdraw to a Swiss account, and you risk a freeze while you are invested.
My verdict
Robinhood is not an option in Switzerland, and the workarounds are not worth the risk. What appealed to you about the app is still available here: try the eToro demo, and look at Yuh if you would rather stay in francs.

If the simple app and the fractional shares are what drew you to Robinhood, eToro is the closest thing available here.
⚠ CFDs are a different product, and I do not rate them.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 51% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
A contract for difference is not a share. You do not own anything, the position is leveraged, and it is built to be opened and closed quickly rather than held for years. Leverage cuts both ways: a small move against you can wipe out the whole position.
