How I use AI on this site

This page is also available in: Deutsch

Short version: AI helps me build and check this site. It does not write the reviews, form the opinions or decide the ratings. Those are mine, and they come from using these products with my own money.

Where AI helps

  • Design and layout. Rebuilding pages that had not been touched since 2020, making tables readable on a phone, fixing spacing and contrast.
  • Bugs and housekeeping. Finding broken links, dead redirects, missing images and pages that quietly stopped working.
  • Research support. Pulling together provider fee schedules, key information documents and pricing pages so I have everything in one place before I write.
  • Fact-checking. This is the big one. Every fee on a comparison page is checked back to the provider’s own document, and an adversarial review pass goes through a page before it is published looking for anything that cannot be evidenced. It has caught real errors in my own drafts, and it has caught errors that had been live on this site for years.
  • German translation. First drafts of the German pages, which I then adapt rather than publish as a straight translation.

Where it does not

  • The reviews. I open the accounts, fund them, take the screenshots and write what I found. That is the whole point of the site.
  • The opinions and the ratings. Which platform I would recommend, to whom, and what score it gets. Mine.
  • Who gets recommended. No affiliate relationship buys a placement, a rating or a kind word, and no tool decides that either.

If you ever read something here that sounds like it was written by a machine rather than by a person who has used the product, tell me. Get in touch and I will look at it.

How I check the numbers

  • A figure only goes on a page if it came from the provider’s own page or document for that exact product, and the date it was checked is recorded.
  • Never from a comparison site, and never from a table one provider publishes about its rivals.
  • Where a provider does not publish something, the page says so rather than estimating.
  • When I get something wrong, I fix it and say what it was.

Why I am telling you

Because a lot of financial content is now generated at scale by people who have never opened one of the accounts they are ranking, and readers deserve to know which kind of site they are on. Using good tools to build and check a site is not the same thing as letting a tool write it. More about who I am and how this site makes money.
