How this site works

Written by someone who paid to learn the hard way.

An advisor once quietly wrapped an insurance policy into my pillar 3a. It took 20% of every contribution on a contract with 35 years to run, and would have cost me over 117K by the time I retired. I found it, cancelled it, and built this blog so it doesn’t happen to you.

I open the account and fund it myself

Every platform here is one I have signed up to with my own money and actually used. The screenshots in the reviews come from those accounts, not from a provider’s media kit.

I fact check all the fees and costs

Several Swiss banks do not disclose enough for anyone to work out what their investments really cost. I am the one who digs through the hidden PDFs to find out.

Readers before commissions

If the best answer earns me nothing, it still goes first, and I will say plainly when you do not need the product at all. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the page itself rather than buried in a footer. Read the full rules.

Explore my comparisons:

Four categories to consider when we talk about investing in Switzerland. Each one ranks providers on what they actually cost you over a year, not on the headline rate they advertise.

Top rated in each category:

The provider that currently scores highest in each of the four comparisons. These are starting points, not the whole answer: the right choice depends on how much you are investing and how involved you want to be.

Provider Rating Typical cost Category
True WealthTrue Wealth AG, Zurich 4.8 0.37% to 0.62% a year Robo-advisors Read review
finpensionfinpension AG, Lucerne 4.7 0.39% a year Pillar 3a Read review
Interactive BrokersInteractive Brokers (U.K.) Ltd 4.8 From 0.05% a trade Online trading Compare
RelaiRelai AG, Zurich 4.7 From 1.0% a purchase Crypto Read review

Costs are what a typical retail customer pays, taken from each provider’s own pricing page. Where a provider charges on a sliding scale the lowest tier is shown. A percentage charged on your portfolio and a fee charged per trade are not directly comparable, so open the full comparison before deciding.

More reviews in each category: robo-advisors, pillar 3a, online trading, crypto, or see every review.

What is behind these ratings?

No sponsored placements and no provider sign-off. Here is the work the ratings rest on, stated plainly enough that you can check it yourself.
